Windsurfing: Westward Ho! Wind Direction: w Wind Stength: F5-7 Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Max Speed: Distance Covered:
What a day, best sailing for ages. Started on the 5.0m & little board
which was perfect, with the near on shore wind there were lots of waves
about & a fair amount of white water, after a few runs i ventured out the
back, picking the route out essential not to get munched, the waves were
big, after a while John ventured out as well which was ace to both be out
there in these conditions, whilst Stu ollie & phil stayed closer to
shore.
The wind was increasing & so it seemed the size of the waves with sets
coming through, jumping was ace, so high but controllable, gybeing on the
faces sometimes was a heart in the mouth moment but such a great
feeling.
After a couple of hours the 5.0 was too much, so got off to change down
as did everyone else,me to a 4.5m & others to 4.2m\'s.had some lunch & a
rest.
Part 2, launched with 4.5m & overpowered! so as much downhaul as
poss.this was ok.tried to get out the back now but as the tide had dropped
there was more white water alot further out, this was deffinatelty a place
not to go down, reading the waves & where they were gonna peak & break was
the order of the day, but with plenty of power in the sail & loads of speed
i could bounce up over huge white water as sometimes there was no where to
go, but you had to fully committed. These were the best condition's ive
sailed for ages & i didnt want it to end, not a day to try stunts or tricks
out there.
after a while i stayed more in shore, where thewaves were alot smaller
but still very good, getting 5-8 jumps on every run, doing big 1 handed
floaty jumps :)
i could go on for ages, such a good day with freinds in top
conditions.
